Birthday Bash for Dada

Jayce's dad was lucky enough to be the first in the family to have the opportunity to celebrate his birthday here on the island. I couldn't really cook or bake him anything with the lack of kitchenette supplies and space, so apologize to him ahead of time. I did ask him numerous time of what he wanted to do or have for dinner. I offered him a choice to go to a nice restaurant, but he had his own plan and agenda in mind. After hubby got off early from work, we went ahead to pick Jayce up from the daycare. Poor Jayce was still a little groggy and crying when I went to pick him up. Apparently I disturbed him from his nap time. We drove back to the hotel to change clothes then spent time walking around Waikiki to enjoy special day for dada.

First on the agenda was trying out the water cycle nearby our hotel. We reserved the water cycle for 30 minutes. It was quite a workout at first until we figured out how to ride it correctly. The sun was still brightly shining through. Luckily, we brought our shades, hats, and lathered up enough sunblock.
Next, we planned to fill up our stomach. Hubby chose to eat at the traditional Japanese Udon noodle restaurant. The restaurant was usually crowded and you could see the line forming all the way outside road each night. We were lucky it was after lunch and not very many people there at the time. We ordered the udon noodle with seasoned beef and some variety of tempura on the side.
Before we left the restaurant, we saw a young woman lying down in the chair getting her blood pressure taken by the EMT. She probably either passed out from the heat exhaustion or maybe waiting too long to get her food? Who knows?

Anyways, we continued to venture out in the crowded road of Waikiki to check out the International Market Place. We played off being tourists and took some pictures. There, we saw the bird man and Jayce's dad thought it would be awesome to take pictures with the birds. I wasn't so sure, but he insisted since it's his birthday. So, I let him have some fun. The "bird man" kept on adding more birds to me, I guess I needed more birds to cover up every parts of my hands. The bird's claw kept on digging into my skin and I cringed every time they tried to flap their wings or tried to move.

Then, we walked some more and got some yogurt treats. There were more choices compared to yogurt store in MD. They have toasted coconut, mango pina colada, red velvet, NY cheesecake, Dutch chocolate, plus other flavors. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to take a picture of the yogurt that we ordered! They also gave out some cute spoons along with the yogurt ice cream. It was a Sanrio (my childhood favorite) theme. Then, we visited the King's village and sightseeing some more. It was almost sunset, so we walked and sat by the beach to catch the glimpse of the sunset in Waikiki. After the sunset, we headed back to the hotel before it got really dark. Happy happy birthday dear hubby/Jayce's dad!! Hope you enjoyed our family time together as much as Jayce & I did! :-)
